This is a sea shanty I learned at camp. During the podcast, I sent the lyrics to Craig and he said it was about rowing, even though I was in the middle of trying to explain to him that it was about these slaves on the Volga River in Russia:

That picture is astonishing! The colours really remind me of this guy called Segei Prokudin Gorski. His pictures did the rounds on the internet a while back. He developed a method of doing colour photography back at the start of the 20th century. Just the fact that it is in colour moves it from being distant history to being something that feels immediate and alive. That painting has very much the same feel to it.
